Five Reasons to Book an In-Home Photo Session

While nature is stunning and we are surrounded by so much natural beauty here in Kitsap County, there is something uniquely beautiful about your home. Yes even yours. No matter what it looks like. As a family photographer, I feel deep in my bones that in-home photo sessions don’t get the love they should. I’m here to share my top 5 reasons why you should consider a session in-home.

1. Comfort Level

There is no place, I repeat, no place like home. And there’s simply nowhere where kids – and partners – and YOU – are more comfortable than your home. Because of this, nowhere else is as ideal to capture your family’s connection and natural interactions than your own habitat. And let’s be honest, mama: you’ll be much more comfortable without having to schlep the whole family out of the house!

2. Your favorite things

While you probably couldn’t pack up your family’s favorite things and lug them to a remote, outdoor location, at home, everything you know and love is within reach. Not only this, but is encouraged to be used during a lifestyle session in-home. What do I mean by this? One example is pulling your kids’ favorite bedtime story off the shelf and reading it to them on a cozy corner of your couch. If you have a pet, they can be in your photos, too. Maybe your toddler loves to blow bubbles on your front porch, and you love to curl up with a cup of tea in your favorite chair by the window. These favorite things make up the fabric of your family, and in an at-home portrait session, we get to capture it all.

3. No-worry Wardrobe

As your Kitsap County family photographer, I will provide you with all the guidance you need on dressing yourself – and your family – for your photo session. But, I can promise you this: dressing for a session in-home is a breeze. I recommend comfort and ease in clothing choices over anything too-tight or brand-new, and you can leave your shoes at the door. Bare feet are encouraged here!

4. Weather isn’t on the radar

Unlike many family photo sessions in the Pacific Northwest, which are highly dependent on the weather of the day, an in-home portrait session can be done in almost any kind of weather. And in any season. You don’t have to worry about rain, or dress in layers to prevent a chill. The chances of needing to reschedule are slim to none. The inside of your home is safe from all the elements, and you’ll thank me for that later!

5. Memory Making

While there is no denying that nature makes a beautiful backdrop, very few memories of your family take place in the great, wide open. They take place at home. Capturing the authentic, day-to-day life of your family with professional photography serves as a time capsule of where you and your family are right now, at this moment. And this is something you will always treasure.
